Spain has pointed out that the intervention of the United States in Venezuela constitutes a precedent for peace and security in the region, and has emphasised that the natural resources of the country are part of its sovereignty. The Spanish ambassador to the UN, Héctor Gómez Hernández, made these statements during the Security Council meeting on the military intervention of the U.S. in Venezuela.
