The Executive has expressed its willingness to offer mediation to reach a resolution to the crisis in Venezuela, which has intensified following the airstrike by the United States in Caracas. The president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, has urged for de-escalation and has called for respect for International Law and the principles of the United Nations Charter in a message shared on his X account. Furthermore, the Government of Spain is monitoring the situation in Venezuela. Our embassy and consulates are operational. We call for a reduction of tensions and for responsible action. It is essential to respect International Law and principles. Sánchez’s statement includes a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which it is emphasised that Minister José Manuel Albares and the ministry itself are monitoring the situation in coordination with EU partners and countries in the region.
