Suspended the statement of former UDEF chief in Madrid prosecuted for collaborating with the drug trafficker.

Madrid. This Monday, Judge Francisco de Jorge, from the National Court, postponed the statement of Óscar Sánchez, former head of the Central Unit for Economic and Tax Crime in Madrid. Sánchez is being prosecuted for his collaboration with a network that introduced tonnes of cocaine into Spain, and he is accused of having received €32.6 million for his involvement in this crime. Sánchez, who held the position of chief inspector of Economic Crimes in the Judicial Police Brigade of the Superior Chief of Madrid, was scheduled to give a statement via videoconference this Monday from the Soto del Real prison in Madrid, where he has been detained as a preventive prisoner since his arrest in November 2024. However, according to legal sources cited by EFE, the inspector did not testify because he opposed the judge’s suggestion that his appearance be turned into an investigative statement.
