Ten communities on alert while a resident of Palau-sator (Girona) is searched for after being swept away with his car.

Currently, ten autonomous communities are on alert due to weather conditions such as storms, rainfall, winds, snowfall, and avalanches. Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Galicia, Valencia Community, and Melilla are on orange alert because of these climatic situations. An orange alert has been issued for maritime conditions along the northern Mediterranean coast up to Alicante, as well as in large parts of the Balearic Islands, Galicia, and Melilla. Catalonia and the Valencia Community are also under an orange alert for rough seas. Firefighters are trying to locate a resident of Palau-sator who was swept away with their vehicle by the stream that runs through the town, which has experienced an increase in its flow due to the rainfall. School, sports, and day centre activities have been cancelled in the regions of Gironès, Selva, and Alt and Baix Empordà in Catalonia, due to the danger posed by rainfall and potential river flooding. This information has been provided by Civil Protection, which sent an alert message to citizens’ mobile phones. We are monitoring the increase in the flow of rivers and streams. Attention is required in the Girona regions, particularly in Gironès, Selva, and Baix Empordà. We recommend being cautious and following the instructions of #CivilProtection.
