The analyses by the Generalitat rule out that the virus of the plague came from the laboratory.

The sequencing of the African swine fever (ASF) virus carried out by the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) of the Generalitat and the University of Barcelona (UB) confirms that it did not originate from the laboratory of the Animal Health Research Centre IRTA-CReSA in Cerdanyola del Vallès. The Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat, Cristina Massot, along with the IRB researcher, Toni Gabaldón, who conducted this sequencing, have confirmed this. The department is awaiting results from the national reference laboratory for ASF, which is the Central Veterinary Laboratory (LCV) located in Algete-Madrid, to validate the results obtained.
