Alarms have been raised regarding the protection of women, as at the beginning of this year, in six cases of femicide, there had been prior complaints. In the triple murder that occurred this week in Miranda de Ebro, the arrested individual is a man who had already been convicted for the kidnapping of women, indicating that he is a repeat offender of abuse. The ex-partner of the victim, Dolores, becomes the eleventh person to die as a result of gender-based violence in the two and a half months that have passed in 2026. This start to the year matches the statistics of 2023 for the same period, although it is still below the most critical year recorded, which was 2020, with 18 femicides.
The case of Miranda de Ebro raises concerns at the start of the year with 11 femicides.
