The Congress has annulled the decree that extends the suspension of evictions for families in vulnerable situations and other provisions of the social shield, which includes the prohibition of interrupting basic services, thanks to the majority formed by the PP, Vox, and Junts. The decree received 172 votes in favour, 177 against, and one abstention. It also encompasses measures such as freezing contributions for self-employed workers, tax subsidies for the acquisition of electric vehicles and for those affected by floods and fires, in addition to updating transfers to the autonomous communities and local entities for the year 2026. Among the provisions that are annulled with the repeal of this decree are the prohibition on dismissing employees in companies that receive public aid, the removal of the obligation for beneficiaries of unemployment benefits to submit a tax declaration, and the suspension of the cause for dissolution due to losses caused by natural events. The PP, Vox, and Junts have voted again, arguing that the moratorium against evictions supports squatting.
The Congress repeals the measures of the ‘social shield’ and ratifies the increase in pensions.
