The Government has stated that this decision is within the competence of both itself and the Royal Household, while the Zarzuela Palace maintains that it is solely up to the emeritus king. This topic has garnered attention during the parliamentary session, particularly after the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, suggested that the declassification of the documents «should reconcile Spaniards with the person who stopped the coup» and expressed his desire for the emeritus king to return to the country.
