During the first month of the conflict in the Middle East, the European Union has invested €14 billion in energy, according to statements made by the European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen. He urged member countries to find ways to reduce the use of diesel and kerosene. Jørgensen stated at a press conference following an extraordinary video conference meeting of the Energy Ministers of EU countries that the main concern focuses on diesel and aviation fuel, the increase in restrictions in the gas market, the impact on electricity prices, and the repercussions on industry.
The EU has spent an extra 14 billion euros on energy since the war in Iran began.
