The first 22 Spaniards are leaving Iran and will arrive in Madrid tomorrow.

A group of 22 Spaniards living in Iran has left the country and crossed into Azerbaijan, where they are safe. They are expected to arrive in Madrid tomorrow, according to Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares. In statements to the press, Albares mentioned that a plane from the Air Force is heading to the Middle East to continue the repatriation of Spanish citizens located in various parts of the region since the USA and Israel carried out military action against the Iranian government. The minister indicated that the organisation of evacuations is also being conducted through available commercial flights. Additionally, he noted that the Spanish Embassy in Tehran remains operational, albeit with a reduced team that includes the ambassador, Antonio Sánchez-Benedito. Today, a reinforcement of diplomatic staff will be sent to several embassies to assist in the evacuation process. According to the minister, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will receive this reinforcement, with the aim of ensuring that all Spaniards who wish to do so can leave and return to Spain.
