The doctors’ strike concludes this Friday the first of five weeks of planned stoppages until June, and the organising unions are expressing satisfaction. They have begun to engage in dialogue with parliamentary groups to explain the conflict with the Ministry of Health, which they are asking to continue the negotiations. The Spanish Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM), one of the six unions that called the strike, has stated in a communiqué their pleasure with the level of participation, which, according to their data, has remained around 90 per cent in hospital care and nearly 80 per cent in primary care, despite the minimum services established. On the other hand, the follow-up figures provided by the sector’s ministries hover around 20 per cent, which has resulted in cancellations, although all regional governments have assured that urgent surgeries have not been affected.
The first week of the doctors’ strike concludes with a call to negotiate.
