The Government and the Church close an agreement to compensate victims of sexual abuse.

The Ministry of Justice, the Spanish Bishops’ Conference, and the Spanish Conference of Religious have reached an agreement to establish a new procedure through the Ombudsman, aimed at compensating victims of sexual abuse within the context of the Catholic Church, in cases where judicial recourse is no longer possible. The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños, will sign the agreement this Thursday at 9:30 am at the Palacio de Parcent in Madrid, alongside the presidents of the Spanish Bishops’ Conference, Luis Argüello, and the Spanish Conference of Religious, Jesús Díaz Sariego. Following the signing, the minister will announce the details of the agreement in a press conference.
