During a visit to the Danish troops, Greenland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt, stated that the military presence has become the «new normal» for the island, in the context of the crisis generated by the ambitions of the United States to annex Arctic territory. «It is essential for the inhabitants of Greenland to feel that we are not isolated.»
