The Government of Venezuela calls for an emergency meeting with the UN following the attacks by the US.

Caracas (EFE).- The Venezuelan Government has requested a meeting of the UN Security Council following the attacks by the United States in various areas of the country and the confirmation of Nicolás Maduro’s capture. According to the Attorney General, Maduro has been kidnapped and the blame is placed on the US for this event. Through a letter, the ambassador of Somalia asked Caracas to convene a meeting to address the acts of aggression by the United States. Venezuela also requested that the Council condemn the aggression and call for an end to the armed attacks. The request comes after attacks carried out by US military forces in the early hours of this Saturday. Maduro’s Government described these acts as unjustified, noting that they included the bombing of civilian and military areas in Caracas and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. The statement adds that US special forces are conducting operations in different locations across the country. Venezuela emphasised that this aggression violates the UN Charter, which stipulates that members must refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any nation.
