The Government will invest over 3.1 billion in the Atlantic Corridor in 2026, the same as in 2025.

This year, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has allocated €3.123 billion to railway initiatives for the advancement of the Atlantic Corridor, representing an investment that is 122% higher than that made in 2024. It is expected that this pace of investment will continue into 2026. The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has detailed the progress of this infrastructure axis that is part of the Trans-European Transport Network. Ten years ago, the annual amount of tenders in the Atlantic Corridor was €653 million. We have now quintupled the volume of projects to meet the targets set by the European Commission for the priority transport infrastructure network. He also noted that the commitment made to the European Commission to complete the corridor network by 31 December 2030 involves, in the next five years, an effort to promote the actions planned in the Atlantic Corridor. With railways as the focus, advances are planned in nine ports, five airports, and nine railway freight stations. By that time, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will invest over €26 billion to complete the infrastructure of the Corridor network. Of this amount, €12 billion will be allocated to railway projects, while the remainder will be used for improvements in ports, airports, roads, and urban centres.
