The machinists’ union Semaf calls for a general strike in the sector following the accidents.

The Spanish train drivers’ union, Semaf, has called for a strike in the sector to demand safety and reliability of the network, following incidents that have resulted in fatalities, including three drivers. After the train accident in Adamuz and the Rodalies incident in Gelida, Semaf has stated that it will seek criminal accountability from those responsible for safety in railway infrastructure. Furthermore, it has indicated that services in Catalonia will not resume without guarantees of safety for operations. It has also suggested that those unable to provide their service due to emotional impact should inform their superiors.
