The new autonomous financing: a proposal for all without sufficient majority

The initiative that the Vice-President and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, announced on Friday as a new system of regional financing requires an absolute majority, which is currently far from being achieved. The financing model for the autonomous communities covers the expenses of health care, education, and dependency care, as well as other regional competencies. This means that to implement the new system, an absolute majority in Congress is necessary. If the PP or Junts oppose the proposal, it would hold no value. Additionally, it is necessary for at least one of the two to vote in favour.
