The new global tariff of 15% imposed by Trump comes into effect.

Washington. This Tuesday, the new global tariff of 15% established by U.S. President Donald Trump came into effect, following the nullification of part of his tax plan by the Supreme Court. Trump made the announcement during a press conference at the White House, where he questioned the Supreme Court’s decision that annulled the «reciprocal» tariffs and other actions implemented under the International Economic Emergency Powers Act of 1977. Initially, the president declared a rate of 10%, which the next day was increased to 15%. The Supreme Court’s decision and Trump’s reaction have raised doubts among the United States’ trading partners, particularly among those who had agreed to preferential tariffs during the trade war. Nations such as Brazil, which are among those most impacted by the taxes now on hold, have viewed the new global tariff that levels them with others as something beneficial.
