The PP opens the door to appeal to the courts against the regularisation of migrants approved by the Government.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, at the helm of the PP, stated that his party will evaluate the regularisation of immigrants announced by the Government to decide if it is possible to challenge this decision in court. Feijóo hinted at the possibility of using that resource during an interview on Antena 3, where he claimed that the Government is attempting to cover up its negligence regarding issues such as the maintenance of railway infrastructure. When asked if he considers the possibility of going to the courts, he stated that the Popular Party will analyse the conditions of the royal decree from a legal perspective. He clarified that his party appeals when there is a chance that the appeal or claim will be accepted. Feijóo expressed his concern that the Government’s decision may create a pull effect and contradict the EU’s agreement on migration and asylum. In his view, the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, is only interested in staying in office. His criteria change based on the situation and his objective is not the regularisation of immigrants, but rather consolidating his position. Furthermore, he opines that, due to the lack of approval of the royal decree law for the revaluation of pensions, Sánchez is more concerned with his own interests than those of pensioners. For this reason, he has reiterated his accusation against the Prime Minister. Regarding the resignation of former minister José Luis Ábalos, Feijóo mentioned reports suggesting that this is due to an agreement in which the PSOE commits to covering the lawyer’s fees and prolonging the legal process. However, he indicated that the justice system has the tools to prevent this from dragging on and to reveal the truth about a ministry such as Transport, where thefts have occurred and individuals have been paid who did not attend work.
