The Red Crescent estimates the death toll at 200 from the attacks by Israel and the USA against Iran.

Jerusalem/Tehran (EFE).- This Saturday, the United States and Israel carried out an attack against targets in Tehran and other locations in Iran, which has responded by launching missiles towards Israeli territory and American military bases in the region. According to a spokesperson for the Red Crescent, at least 201 people have died and 747 have been injured in Iran, according to the official Iranian agency ISNA. The offensive was carried out in the early hours of the morning. The Israeli Ministry of Defence announced it at 8:15 local time and declared a state of emergency that will last for 48 hours. Explosions began to be heard in Tehran and other areas of the country, with nearly a hundred fatalities, of which 85 were students from a school. The Israeli Army communicated a «preventive attack» and later clarified that the offensive was focused on «numerous military targets, as part of a joint and coordinated operation against the regime». Israel has named its military operation ‘Lion’s Roar’, while the United States has called it ‘Epic Fury’. The purpose of these actions is to eliminate what they consider «existential threats». At the same time the attack was announced, all mobile phones in Israel issued an «extreme emergency alert» urging the population to seek nearby shelters and to avoid unnecessary movements.
