Madrid (EFE).- This Wednesday, storm Kristin is bringing rain to almost the entire peninsula, which is presenting as snow in much of the country, including the city of Madrid. The Special Plan for Severe Winter Weather has been activated, and difficulties are being reported in circulation and public transport. All autonomous communities, except Navarra, are on alert due to snow, rain or wind. Almería has a red alert for winds that could reach up to 130 kilometres per hour, according to predictions from the State Meteorological Agency. More than 2,100 kilometres of roads are under some type of alert, according to the General Directorate of Traffic. A total of 101 roads are affected, of which 19 are closed, all belonging to the secondary network. The main road network is facing issues in Castilla y León, particularly on the A-66 in Cáceres towards Salamanca and on the A-50 as it runs through Ávila. The DGT is urging drivers travelling on the A-6 in Somosierra, the AP-6 in Segovia and the A-66 in Ribaseca to exercise caution. The Government Delegation in Madrid has activated level 1 of the Special Civil Protection Plan due to the severe winter weather. A meeting has been scheduled at noon for the Risk Assessment Unit of the CEMEN to analyse the situation and review preventive and response measures. Several intercity bus lines are experiencing issues, including cancellations, diversions and circulation difficulties in various locations.
