The protests organised today by the Unaspi association in opposition to the free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur have gained momentum in various parts of the country, notably blocking roads in several areas of Catalonia, including access to the port of Tarragona. The agrarian organisation Revolta Pagesa, in collaboration with Unaspi, carried out the first blockades at 3:00 a.m., and there are up to ten points on Catalonia’s road network affected, with closures in one direction, the other, or both. Tractor protests are observed on the AP-7 in different locations in the province of Girona, such as Vilamorell and Vilademuls towards France. There are also demonstrations on the A-2 near Golmes and Bell-Lloc d’Urgell, on the N-230 in Les Bordes, and blockades in the access areas to the port of Tarragona, although everything is proceeding smoothly. According to Unaspi as indicated to Efeagro, one of the farmers’ aims is to close the border with France in collaboration with the French agrarian union Coordinación Rural.
The tractor protests against the EU-Mercosur agreement are gaining momentum, especially in Catalonia.
