Vitoria. The central and Basque governments have agreed on the transfer to Euskadi of five responsibilities, including unemployment benefits. This pact is formalised one day before the Joint Transfer Commission, which was in doubt due to disagreements between the two governments. This morning, an agreement was reached following dialogues between the lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, and several senior officials from his team, as well as with some ministers and the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, according to the spokesperson for the Executive, María Ubarretxena, in Vitoria. This Friday at 10:30 am, in Madrid, a meeting of the Joint Transfer Commission will be held to officialise the transfer of competencies related to unemployment benefits, non-contributory family benefits from Social Security, Maritime Rescue, School Insurance, and the Machinery Verification Centre in Barakaldo.
The transfer to the Basque Country of 5 competencies, including unemployment, was closed at the last minute.
