Washington (EFE). On Wednesday, the United States announced the beginning of the second phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip, which includes the demilitarisation of the Palestinian region and the establishment of a technocratic government without the participation of Hamas. Steve Witkoff, the US President’s special envoy, communicated the start of the second phase of the President’s 20-Point plan to resolve the conflict in Gaza, which includes the transition from a ceasefire to demilitarisation, the implementation of a technocratic government, and reconstruction. Witkoff indicated that this phase involves the establishment of a transitional Palestinian government, known as the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. It also includes demilitarisation and the reconstruction of the area, as well as the disarmament of unauthorised personnel. The United States expects Hamas to fulfil its responsibilities, which include the return of the last hostage who has died.
