The UK maritime agency reports an explosion off the coast of Kuwait.

This Thursday, the British agency for Maritime Commercial Operations (UKMTO) reported an explosion near the southern coast of Kuwait, resulting in an oil spill at sea, although the crew is safe. UKMTO reported that it was alerted to an incident that occurred approximately 30 nautical miles off the southeast coast of Mubarak al-Kabeer, Kuwait, in the Persian Gulf. The country’s Ministry of the Interior stated that the event took place outside Kuwait’s territorial waters, more than 60 kilometres from its coast. The captain of an anchored oil tanker reported hearing an explosion and observed a small group leaving the area.
