The Venezuelan Government reports on 116 «new releases» and NGOs speak of lower figures.

Caracas.- This Monday, the Ministry of Penitentiary Service of Venezuela announced that 116 releases of individuals related to acts that disturb the constitutional order and threaten the stability of the country have been carried out. In a statement, the ministry announced that these measures are part of the review of cases ordered by President Nicolás Maduro, who was detained by U.S. forces on January 3 in Venezuela, and that is still being carried out by the interim president, Delcy Rodríguez. The Venezuelan Ministry stated that this process of review will be conducted on a permanent and continuous basis, in compliance with current legislation.
