The work to restore the service of the train line connecting the centre with the south of the peninsula is progressing in Adamuz, with the aim of resuming high-speed travel. High-speed service has been interrupted since an Iryo train derailed and collided with an Alvia train, an accident that resulted in the deaths of 46 people. Around twenty vehicles and approximately forty technicians from Adif are working on site. According to Puente, their goal is to resume circulation towards Andalucía on Saturday the 7th, although this date is not definitive and weather conditions could affect timelines. The Ministry of Transport reported that initial work has focused on the removal of sleepers and tracks that are no longer useful on the railway platform, as well as preparing materials for reconstruction. Additionally, initial work for the future installation of the overhead line is already underway. From the 20th, Renfe has implemented an alternative plan that facilitates high-speed service between Madrid and Andalucía, although the journey between Villanueva de Córdoba and Córdoba is being carried out by bus.
