Thousands of people roam Copenhagen shouting «Greenland is not for sale.»

This Saturday, thousands of people marched through the centre of Copenhagen, shouting «Greenland is not for sale» and protesting against threats from the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to acquire that autonomous territory of Denmark. The protest, organised by groups of Greenlanders living in Denmark and the Danish NGO Help to Action, began in the Town Hall square. During the event, the Mayor of Copenhagen, Sisse Marie Welling, and several politicians from Greenland attended. Welling stated that people cannot be bought nor can the map of the world be altered. Greenlandic MP Pipaluk Lynge emphasised that this is not just about Greenland, but that the entire global order is at risk. More than 15,000 people, according to the organisers, packed the square and then walked through the streets of the centre, waving flags of Denmark and Greenland while chanting. Julie Rademacher, representative of Uagut, an organisation established this year to represent Greenlanders living in Denmark, commented that the inhabitants of Greenland have experienced a sense of powerlessness and have found themselves in a battle for democracy and the global order, therefore she believes this is a struggle that involves everyone.
