This Thursday, the Minister of Transport, Oscar Puente, declared that the wall which caused the collapse and the accident of Rodalies in Gelida had been inspected. This wall has updated inspections, as well as the infrastructure of which it is a part, the AP-7, explained Puente in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio. The collapse occurred after several days of accumulated rainwater in the area, which resulted in an increase in the weight of the slope. Puente stated that the density and weight reached by the slope were incompatible with the stability of the wall. According to Puente, the investigation into the incident in which the driver of a commuter train died and five people were injured will be thorough. Furthermore, he noted that the weather conditions were the cause of what happened.
