Washington (EFE).- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, claimed that the Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores are in custody aboard the USS Iwo Jima and are en route to New York to face drug trafficking charges. He shared information about the operation of special forces that took place in Venezuela. Trump mentioned that they were moved to a ship and will continue their journey to New York. Helicopters were responsible for their transportation. During the operation, Trump stated that one of the helicopters came under fire, although there were no reported casualties among the US military forces. The Attorney General of the United States, Pam Bondi, stated that Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores will be brought to trial in a federal court in New York. She highlighted the formal charges against Maduro from 2020, which include four counts, among them conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism.
