The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has given the order to carry out attacks against targets in Venezuela, including military installations, as part of his campaign of pressure against the regime of Nicolás Maduro, according to sources from the Administration to CBS News. U.S. officials informed CBS News that Trump has issued the order for attacks in Venezuela, shortly after explosions were reported and aircraft flew over the area near Caracas. Fox News has also confirmed that Trump has given the order to conduct airstrikes against targets in Venezuela, focusing on the La Guaira region, near Maiquetía airport, as well as areas that could host military targets. The Venezuelan Government reported a military aggression by the United States in areas of the states of Miranda, Aragua, La Guaira, and in Caracas, and has ordered the activation of the command for the defence of the nation. The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, expressed his administration’s concern over the explosions in Caracas and other areas of Venezuela, due to the tension in the region.
