This Sunday, the President of the USA, Donald Trump, stated that an agreement with Cuba could be reached soon and mentioned that his Administration will focus its attention on the island once the conflict with Iran is resolved. «Cuba is also looking to reach an agreement, and I am convinced that we will soon achieve an understanding or take the necessary steps,» Trump asserted. «We are in discussions with Cuba, but we will prioritise our negotiations with Iran over those with Cuba,» he clarified. These statements come in a context of tension following the imposition by the United States of an oil embargo on Cuba since January and the interruption of Venezuelan oil shipments. Additionally, it was announced through an executive order the implementation of tariffs for countries that export oil to the island.
