Washington. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has indicated that NATO could face a negative future if allied countries do not collaborate to facilitate the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed by Iran in response to attacks from the United States. Trump stated in an interview with the Financial Times that those who benefit from the strait must work together to ensure that nothing harmful occurs in that area, as Europe and China rely on oil from the Gulf. He added that if there is no reaction or if the response is unfavourable, it will be detrimental to the future of NATO. This Saturday, Trump requested several countries to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz to keep it open and safe, after the Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojatba Khamenei, announced that the passage would remain closed. He posted on the social network Truth that he hopes China, France, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and other countries will send ships to the region so that the Strait of Hormuz no longer poses a threat.
