Two men have died in a pirogue found adrift after spending a week in the Atlantic, near Dakhla, where there were another 106 people on board, according to sources from the emergency services at the port of Arguineguín. A cargo ship named Sara M located the vessel approximately 275 kilometres southeast of El Hierro and notified the Spanish authorities. On the pirogue were 74 men, 20 women, and four children, all facing adverse maritime conditions. One of the survivors was transferred by helicopter to the Doctor Negrín Hospital during the journey to Arguineguín. So far, there is no information about the nationalities of the people on the pirogue or their point of departure. Medical staff were informed that they had been at sea for a week.
