Zelensky commits to EU leaders to restore oil supply as soon as possible.

Brussels (EFE).- This Thursday, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, pledged to the leaders of the European Union to resume the flow of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, which has been affected by Russian attacks. This is one of the conditions that Hungary demands to support the €90 billion community loan intended for Kyiv. President Zelensky has promised to resume oil supplies and to play Ukraine’s role as an energy partner for the EU, according to sources from the community following his video conference intervention at the European Council taking place today in Brussels. At today’s summit, EU leaders discussed support for Ukraine and issued a statement that received backing from 25 nations, excluding Hungary and Slovakia, which are the countries affected by the interruption of supplies through Druzhba. At the beginning of the discussion, António Costa, President of the European Council, addressed Hungary’s behaviour regarding the EU support loan that was unanimously agreed upon by European leaders at the December summit. Community sources indicated that, as in his previous talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Costa expressed during his speech to all leaders that this type of conduct is unacceptable and transgresses the principles of good faith and cooperation established in the Treaties.
